Taking place at the Royal Spa in Queen's Park, Brighton - a regency portico which is the only remaining part of the Royal Spa complex, now in the grounds of the Royal Spa Nursery School – the events will be an opportunity to hear a range of different musical experiences in a relaxed, summer setting.
Artistic Director Deborah Roberts said:
"We are delighted to be playing our part in bringing live music back to Brighton this summer.
"Our Midsummer Season at Royal Spa will enable us to explore myths and ancient legends from a range of traditions stretching from Ancient Greece to North India."
Kicking off on Saturday 5th June with The Forest of Mythical Breezes (6pm & 8pm), the Midsummer Season opens with French baroque music and dance based on classical myths.
Audience members are invited to bring picnic chairs or rugs and a picnic to enjoy during the 1-hour performance.
The Season continues with North Indian dance and storytelling (6th June); contemplative renaissance polyphony (12th June); music from 17th century London and Italy (13th June & 3rd July); and a highlights from the earliest opera by a female composer – Francesca Caccini's La liberazione di Ruggiero (11th July).
