Miranda graduated from the University of Brighton's
highly regarded Fine Art Painting BA (Hons) in 2019, and received the commission
from famed global members' club Soho House after a string of exhibitions in the UK and Switzerland, as well as a show at Brighton's Phoenix gallery earlier this year featuring work created following her winning the Cass Art Phoenix Studio Award.
Speaking about her time studying at University of Brighton, Miranda said:
"I really enjoyed my years at Brighton. The course enabled me to explore my ideas, and was instrumental to the development of my painting style and current body of work.
"I was able to hone in on how I want to represent my ideas and concerns in my work, while being exposed to different artists and ways of thinking."
In addition to the showcase for her textiles Miranda is currently exhibiting paintings as part of a group show in Nigeria at Tiwani Contemporary in Lagos, running to 13 August. She is also among recently acquired artists to the Arts Council Collection.
Miranda describes her work as exploring the queer black female gaze in painting, seeking to address the long time invisibility of black women in the traditional history of art.
